Finally, the Mid-Term Review has now been released, by the Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu on 5thDecember 2017 in a packed Ashoka Hotel hall.

Government has tried to put some balm on the harassed exporters by increasing the incentives to various MSME sectors notably Readymade Garments, Made ups, Leather and Footwear, Handloom items, Agricultural and services sector. This is in continuation to restoring allowing exemption of IGST on imports under Advance Authorisation, EPCG and EOU schemes, reducing GST on scrips to Nil and such other measures.

Some of the important Highlights can be summarised here:

  1. Increase of MEIS by 2% across the board for MSME sectors, and services, leading to an extra outlay of about 8500 crores.
  2. Self-assessment of duty free inputs for certain exporters
  3. Ease of Trading initiative
